For the fourth year running MTV have decided to hold their Winter concert in Valencia, this year taking place on Saturday 12th March 2011. The groups “My Chemical Romance” and “Sum 41”, the DJ Sets “Orbital” and “Groove Armada”, and the Valencia band “The Welcome Dynasty”, will be performing
Last February thousands of people braved the cold conditions to attend the free concert at the Cuidad de las Artes y Ciencias to see the Arctic Monkeys perform. It was broadcast live to more than 50 countries to an audience in excess of 100,000,000
This year the stage will consist of a 26x12-metre platform and a 45-metre wide screen on which to project visual images. It is due to start at 8pm on Saturday 12th March in the City of Arts and Sciences in the dry river bed of the diverted river Turia.
My Chemical Romance have sold more than 8 million albums to date with their latest album being proclaimed as “the best rock album of 2010, the salvation of rock’n’roll”, according to the British magazine New Musical Express.
The colourful pop-punk Canadian band Sum 41 gained international popularity in 2000. They are due to release their latest single "Screaming Bloody Murder" at the end of March but I am sure they will perform it for us live next weekend.
Electronic music duo Groove Armada complete the international line up for the concert. Their 2010 album Black Light was nominated fro a Grammy under the category Best Electronic/Dance Album.
The final band to be taking part in this event are the Valencian band "The Welcome Dynasty" who competed at the City of Arts & Sciences in January to win the honour of becoming the opening act at MTV Winter.
