You can adapt most conventional recipes for the slow cooker. Any oven or stovetop recipe that has some moisture in it - whether from water, stock, wine, sauce, or canned soup - should work beautifully in your slow cooker, just make the following adjustments: - Cut all liquid amounts in half and heat them almost to boiling point before adding them.
- Dairy products such as milk, sour cream and cheese do not hold up well to several hours of simmering. To avoid curdling, wait until the last hour of cooking time to stir in these items.
Remember Never fill your slow cooker less than ½ or more than ¾ full. Don’t lift the lid until the time is finished, doing so will mean you need to add an extra ½ hour to your cooking time. Articles
