If you like historic buildings you’ll love Xativa castle with it’s 30 towers and 4 fortified gates it makes an impressive spectacle.  Don’t worry if you can’t find a parking space at the top of the hill there is a tourist train that runs from Xativa town upto the castle on a regular basis.

Whilst the castle has not been restored particularly there are lot of buildings in surprisingly good condition and it has been attractively landscaped with gardens and fountains.

For the history buffs among us I can tell you that the Carthaganian General Hannibal ruled from this castle and one of the towers is named after his wife Queen Himilce, his son was born here in 218BC.
