Whether you celebrate Father's Day with the Spanish on 19th March (Dia del Padre) or with the English in June (the exact date changes every year, in 2011 it falls on June 19th) if you need some gift ideas please read on.
If you are on a budget or simply don't have time to go shopping for an English Father's Day card you can download a free one from Free Printables. You need to register to receive their email mailshot but once you have done this you can download and print a selection of cards, gift tags and many other items. You can always unsubscribe at any time. Your Dad may be a bit of a wine buff so how about a wine bottle opening kit or an electric corkscrew. Alternatively how about picking up a couple of bottles of his favourite or perhaps even a new one that he's never tried before. You could even take him to a local bodega for a wine tasting to see if you grabs his fancy.
If Dad can't quite afford that sports car he's always dreamed of, why not get him a novelty mouse like the Porsche-inspired wireless mouse shown above (£29.95 from Amazon) instead. There are different cars at prices from just £5.99 and they will even gift wrap it for you and deliver it to England or Spain and many other countries for that matter. Some Dad's are keen walkers in which case how about a walking cane with a water bottle, cap, compass, whistle, pocket knife and a new rucksack to carry it all in.
Is you Dad a keen traveller? If yes, he may like one of these portable DVD players so he can watch his favourite film anywhere: airplanes, buses, hotel rooms, etc. These are available locally from 85€ from Alien Technologies If you're having trouble dragging Dad into the 21st Century you might like to buy him a new mobile phone. Perhaps something easy to use but with a built in camera in case he sees something he would like to take a picture of (they also come in handy if you witness or are involved in a car accident to record the position of the cars, damage caused, etc). Make sure you get one that is not tied to a contract so Dad can use his old SIM card and not have to change his number. You should also help him to make sure all his numbers get transferred. Unfortunately men tend to receive either underwear or aftershave kits for every occasion: Christmas, birthday and Father's Day hopefully with these ideas you will be inspired to get Dad something a little bit different this year.
