If you have found that your reduced income has put an end to your dating it's time you thought again! OK, so you have a lighter wallet at the moment but there are plenty of romantic ideas that don't cost an arm and a leg. Get out of your sweatpants, put down the cold pizza, do your hair/have a shave and get back to woo-ing each other.
We have put together a list of 15 top ideas but I am sure that once you get started you will be able to double that yourself. - If the weather is good, have a picnic. If the weather turns bad, an indoor picnic on the living room floor can be fun too, but don't forget to set the scene with the tartan blanket or tablecloth to sit on!
- Go out on a hike or a bike ride. The beauty of nature is all around us and it doesn't cost a penny. Whether it's a trip to the beach, a walk in the forest or a search into a cave, it can be done together for practically nothing. Take the time to find the natural scenic spots in your area and use them for your dates. (You can combine this with the picnic above!)
- Visit a playground. Try out the swings and seesaw together. Alternatively try one of the new outdoor adult fitness parks.
- Watch the sunset together while enjoying an icecream sundae
- Tickets for amateur dramatic productions are often inexpensive. Whether it’s terrific or terrible, it will give you something to talk about!
- Have your own film festival. Rent classic films or scary movies, wherever your date's tastes lie. Then make a big bowl of popcorn and prepare to snuggle.
- If you like to cook, pasta dinner, with salad and an inexpensive wine, makes for a great dinner. Do not forget to have candles on the table, for that romantic touch.
- Go for a game of crazy golf and be prepared to miss the hole (or even the course) from time to time. Enjoy the time and the experience together.
- Living on the Costa Blanca we are fortunate enough to have Bodegas in almost every village so why not go wine tasting?
- Take in a local fiesta or street market. You will more than likely find live music, great deals, excellent people-watching, and plenty of opportunities for conversation.
- Historic Places & Museums: It seems the only time people go looking at the historic landmarks near where they live is when visitors come across from the UK. Many of these historic or culturally significant spots have no or small entrance fees and make a great place to go on a date.
- Get on thin ice. Depending on the weather, head to an ice-skating rink — it's the perfect excuse to hold hands and "accidentally" fall on top of each other.
- Head to the bookstore and walk through the aisles together, showing each other your favourite books. Try to make a point of remembering the one he/she particularly wants to make that ideal birthday/Christmas present when the time comes.
- Bowl him over at the bowling alley.
- Take it in turns to find the cheapest Menu del Dia. You never know you might find a new favourite restaurant that fits your budget.
Whatever you decide to do, make a point of enjoying each other's company and wherever you are you will have a great time.
